Lasik Surgery

Did you know that in 2015 21 million LASIK vision correction procedures were performed throughout the US alone? . What makes LASIK so appealing? Unlike many other surgical procedures, LASIK is minimally invasive and has a quick recovery time. But like any medical procedure, there are a few things you must avoid to get the most out of your recovery.

1)  Bright lights

After the surgery, your eye surgeon will provide you with a pair of protective eyewear and a sleep mask. After the procedure, your eyes will be super sensitive and it is vital to avoid exposing your eyes to any bright lights.

2) Driving

Be sure to have someone pick you up from your appointment. It is recommended that you do not drive until the next day

3) Using cosmetics and soaps.

In the first day or two after the procedure, it is important to avoid getting anything in your eyes. Clean your face with a damp face towel and use an eye shield or goggles when you take a shower for the next few days.  Avoid applying any eye makeup for at least a week after the procedure.

4) Exercise

Exercise is a good thing but eye surgeons recommend that it is avoided right after eye surgery. You will need to avoid anything that may strain your eyes.

5) Smoking and drinking

Alcohol should be avoided because it can interfere with the healing process and increase the recovery time. Smoking should also be avoided as smoke can irritate the eyes. Experts recommend both vices should be avoided for at least 3 days after surgery.
