How Does LASIK Work?
LASIK is one of the most performed surgeries in the world, with tens of millions of people in the United States now seeing well without glasses and contact lenses afterwards. Out of all the elective procedures that exist, LASIK has the HIGHEST PATIENT SATISFACTION rate. Such high success and satisfaction has understandably led to more and more people becoming interested in LASIK surgery. But how does this magical procedure work? How does a laser suddenly transform vision from being dependent on glasses and contact lenses to immediately seeing well with no corrective lenses?
Firstly, Dr. Cutarelli, a board-certified ophthalmologist who completed his residency training at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University followed by two surgical fellowships, performs all of these procedures at Cutarelli Vision. He is also the MOST EXPERIENCED LASIK SURGEON in all of Colorado, so patients know they are getting the very best!
LASIK is a simple, two-step procedure with two separate lasers. The entire surgery takes ONLY 5 MINUTES PER EYE and only 10-15 minutes total. NO PAIN is felt during or after the surgery. The first highly specialized laser creates a thin corneal flap. Dr. Cutarelli then gently pulls back the flap exposing the underlying corneal tissue. A second technologically advanced laser then treats the patient’s prescription by reshaping the cornea. The flap is then softly laid back in place without any sutures/stitches needed. VISION IS IMPROVED IMMEDIATELY and the next day the patient will have functional vision. The vision typically continues to improve in the following weeks.
Why is LASIK becoming so popular? Why does it have the highest patient satisfaction of any elective surgery? Because the procedure is quick, painless, and fixes blurriness almost instantaneously!
