Denver

Denver is a great city for the whole family! Tired of countless guides about hiking or walking trails? We were too, so we put together this list of family-friendly outings instead! There’s a little something for everyone here. Whether you’re just visiting or need to keep the kids distracted for a few hours, check out our Denver picks!

1. Hammond’s Candy Factory

5735 N. Washington Street, Denver, CO 80216

If there’s one thing that kids love, it’s candy! Why not take them to Hammond’s Candy Factory? With tours running every half hour during factory business hours, the whole family will learn something new! Hammond’s Candy Factory has been open in Denver since 1920!

Don’t worry, your sweet tooth will be satisfied as well: each tour ends with a fresh and tasty sweet treat to take home! Hammond’s is closed on Mondays after Labor Day, and reservations are recommended for tours.

2. Denver Art Museum

100 W 14th Ave Pkwy, Denver, CO 80204

It’s never too early to foster a love of art in your kids and the Denver Art Museum is the perfect place to do it! Whether you drop in for Foxy & Shmoxy: Art Detectives on the second Sunday of each month (September through May) to find clues around the museum, or you just wander around, there’s a lot to see at the Denver Art Museum!

Kids, in particular, love the Animal-Themed Artmaking Activities, which can be found in the Hamilton Building, level 3. There, you’ll find activities that have been inspired by the exhibition called Stampede: Animals in Art.

3. Hot Air Balloon Rides

10538 Arapahoe Road, Lafayette, CO, 80026 (Boulder Launch site)

Hot air balloon rides may not be for everyone, but they sure can be fun! If yours is a thrill-seeking family, you owe it to yourselves to get the best view the eye can see. Colorado is a stunning state, and riding high above the trees you can see the beautiful Rocky Mountain Ranges.

The flying season for guests is limited to May through November. Want to bring the whole family up? Private parties, large groups, and instructional flights are all available as well!

4. Anderson Farms

6728 County Road 3-1/4 Erie, CO 80516

A family-friendly list just isn’t complete without a farm to visit! Anderson Farms in Erie has a lot to offer. In the fall, check out their Fall Festival from September 19-October 31. Colorado in the fall is something everyone needs to see at least once!

If your family likes a little terror, check out Terror In the Corn for a scary take on a corn maze. Even if you just come to check out pumpkins or a hayride, the whole family will love Anderson Farms!

5. Coors Field

2001 Blake Street, Denver, CO 80205

There’s nothing more American than taking in a baseball game with your whole family! Cracker Jacks, hot dogs, and watching the Rockies play is a great way to spend some quality family time. The 2018 season may be over, but there’s always time to start planning for next year’s season!

The hottest place to sit is on The Rooftop, where you’ll be able to see for miles! On a warm spring day, Colorado is one of the best places that you can be. Bonus points if you remember to wear your Rockies jerseys!

6. The Butterfly Pavilion

6252 W. 104th Avenue, Westminster, CO 80020

The great outdoors is pretty cool, but it’s at its best when it can come to you. That’s why you and your family need to check out the Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster, Colorado! At the Pavilion, there are more than 1200 free flying butterflies to see, from all over the globe!

Butterflies, not your thing? The Pavilion also features more than 5,000 animals, as well as creepy crawlies like Rosie The Tarantula (she’s famous!) and exhibits about invertebrates. You won’t want to miss this family outing!

No matter what time of year, you and your family will love the many activities that Denver has to offer! Want to experience them with your best vision possible? Contact Cutarelli Vision and schedule a LASIK consultation!
