Lasik Surgery

Are you considering refractive surgery this fall? Choose LASIK choice and end your dependence on glasses and contacts.

Fall is a great season to have LASIK and get right back out there to enjoy the last of the sun and the warmth before winter. If you schedule your LASIK surgery now, you’ll still be able to take in a hike or two before the change in seasons.

Keep reading to learn more about LASIK as well as some of the best hikes you can take in Denver after the procedure!

What Happens During LASIK?

LASIK is surgery using a laser to change the shape of your cornea. It improves the way light rays are focused on the retina, so you are able to see clearly.

LASIK can treat nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

Before the procedure, your eye will be numbed with eye drops to ensure you are comfortable.

The procedure involves making a thin flap in the cornea, which is lifted and folded back to provide access to the tissue that will be reshaped. After the cornea has been reshaped to correct your vision, the flap is laid back down into position where it attaches on its own and will heal in place.

LASIK is an outpatient procedure, so you will get to go home the same day. You’ll be given special eyedrops to reduce dryness and promote healing.

Many people notice an improvement in their vision right after the procedure. However, some people will need to give their eyes time to heal before witnessing the full potential of their corrected vision.

What Are the Benefits of LASIK

After LASIK, you will be able to greatly reduce your dependence on glasses and contact lenses and enjoy the freedom of corrected vision. You’ll feel more confident in every aspect of your life. After LASIK, you can hike in all weather, especially the beauty of late fall and early winter, not fumbling with glasses or worrying about rain or snow.

How Soon Can I Be Active After LASIK?

You should be able to drive or return to work the day after your LASIK procedure. Over the next few weeks, you may experience some blurriness as your eyes adjust.

Typically, it takes about six months to heal completely after LASIK.
